Bill:
A typical guyed broadcast tower uses 3 sets of guys for a triangular
tower, with each set spaced about 40' apart going up the tower.
Your 40 footer needs no more than 3 sets of 2 for adequate holding
power.
Another point of interest; consider using the top section of your
guy wires for the tophat. Come down the guy, ( I think you said you
use Dacron rope ) about 10 feet with copper wire connected at the
top of the tower. Put a perimeter wire around the 10 foot mark to
connect the tophat radials to and tie it off to the guy. Then you
can use as many tophat radials as you want to try, and they will
be electrically connected to the tower, and the perimeter wire,
but if you use rope, they will be isolated from ground. I use this
Umbrella style tophat, and it works very well for me. JUST A THOUGHT.
