As per Bill's query on guying...
"Paul: The more I think about it , with a ridgid frame like I have, maybe
just 2 sets of four guy ropes might be enough. One set to the top just
under the top hat and another half way down. What do you think
Bill "
I've done a modest amount of tower and antenna guying and would say Bill's 2 sets are adaquate for a forty footer. However I know Bill likes big to large tophats and that can be THE factor for guying. For instance, here I had up a 3-wire tophat with AL gutter screen at rge ends for more Cap. All was fine through the winter season until a early spring ice storm collected on those screens and acted like saild for the wind. The guyed towers stayed but the upper poles bent due to ice loading.
Then too the winds in Texas are the biggest of the 48 ;=)
