Hi Garry and all:

Well, last night I gave " W M S " a shot overnight. No catch there.
" W E B " and " W M S " are really tough ones for me for some reason.

I got an interesting surprise on Sat. early evening, between 6:30 pm
and 7:00 pm Eastern ( 10:30 UTC ). Using some recently aquired
tunable inductors, and vari - caps; I greatly increased my reception
level of WWVB. The highest I had ever saw it was an S-3. With the
tunable setup I brought it up to a peak of an S-9 at about 3:00 pm
in the afternoon. That's a pretty darn good increase. So I gave JJY
in Japan a try on 40Khz at 6:30 pm, using the Multi-PSK Clock and the
PLL locked almost right away, then after a few minutes I got a
" Time Frame " lock. I got at least 2 Time Frame locks in that 1/2 hour
period, but the date and time just came up as " ??? " . After that,
I didn't get any more locks, and soon the PLL Lock dropped too.
That one, along with the 75Khz time station in Switzerland are going
to be a couple of my conquests this winter.

I really do need to set me up a soundcard receiver for VLF sometime !!
