[Lowfer] /16... CW (heard in NE Oregon)

OK, not much of a problem here on strings of "WE"'s of last night. But since
I had no internet access last night I was unaware Mike was going to be on
507.00, and I was also unaware that Mike uses "WE" as a nickname. Thus I
wanted to be sure who I was hearing, even though it eventually became
obvious even to me that it was probably "WE0H" sending the WE's. But I like
to make sure, and only the "/16" would do that. Eventually I caught several
of them and was sure who it was then. Mike and anyone else can of course
send anything they want on a beacon, but it's nice to be sure of who you're
receiving, and only the "/xx" will really do that. And I'm some distance
from Mike and the other mid/east coast folks with beacons, and copy is
generally never all that good.
But far be it from me to want to put a damper on anyone who wants to send
long stories, use nicknames, etc. on their beacon message.

Ok Steve, Mike,
I also had my ear to the speaker last night listening to 600M and trying to
sort out the many beacons. But unlike Steve, I latched on to the WEs as
Mike's /16 (who else?), catching them way before a solid "/16"
arrived--always a clash on the long characers!!
Here's an idea for the beacon zars, adopt a "nick name" like Mike. It takes
the agnst out of waiting for that slash something and repeat and repeat. Dex
does it with Vs, that's fine. Unique station used to do that, but with 600M
the same call is sent, and it's a long one, meaning wait, wait.

Thursday night static was high but I eventually had /6 on 506.350 at 0445
utc; usual strong /12 at 0449 utc on 505.40; and after 20 minutes of
listening, /16 at 0526 utc on 507.00. Note to Mike: please change beacon
message to something useful!! Sending 99 " WE"'s conveys no useful
information, <...>
