Andy,
I no sumpin abut dem verkicals. Been usin one here for several yers. :=;
Another site U sud see is Lyle Koehler's, LowFER LEK. He and Bill Bowers did a lot with large tophat Part-15 veritcals. Their tophats were large umbrellas, a mechanical achievement.
My minor ant., in relation to the above, used two long tophat wires which also pulled up alight center lead to connect to the loading coil. I chose to raise most of the LC for winter snow/ice issues here. But the largest part ofthis antenna lies upon the ground as radials. How many? Many, about 60. Many are long but limited to my city back lot. Also have perimeter ground rods for some radials to terminate with. Nothing specific, only what I had aquired along the way, save for 1,000 feet of CU house wire.
Also beware, it's critical that the top hat not be near conducting objects, ie, trees, metal roofs, etc. That's were Bill's loops rise above the fray, they can be supported by tree limbs. So, do you have sufficient open space for such an antenna?
Wish ya luck -- Peter
