J.B., Lloyd,
I've been able to copy it here on most nights (it's very solid during
the day today at 130 miles), but didn't do much better than you did last
night, due to the static crashes. Your copy indicates the possibility of
a lock on the real signal, but nothing more. The actual text being sent
is "TAG RAYMOND ME ".
One possible clue is that the transmitted frequency is quite accurate,
probably within .01 Hz. If you are sure of your setup's calibration, you
can ignore stuff that's well off the frequency. If you set WOLF's
Frequency Tolerance more tightly than the default 1 Hz, you won't see
the out of band stuff. BUT, this doesn't make it any more likely that
you will see the real signal, only that you won't be distracted!
I guess that the real trick this "summer" (sure feels like it here
today!) will be to try to catch a quiet night. Check your s-meter and
the lightning detection sites, and give it a shot. Thanks for trying!
John A.
