Interesting that the CFL's are not recommended for outdoor photo cell
lamp assemblies or where they would get wet. I have a motion sensing
outdoor flood light fixture with the photo cell and used to run the
CFL's that were encased in a glass enclosure to look like a standard
flood lamp bulb. Those didn't even last a year.
So I just put in a pair of Feit Electric Daylight 60 indoor CFL's and
that was 3 years ago now. Rain or shine, -18F to +105F, they still are
working fine. I have the time delay set to 1 minute so they get power
cycled a lot with the stray cats running around at night. Zero problems
so far. I run those in the house and haven't been able to see or hear
any increase in the noise floor here.
The Commercial CFL's from Home Depot fail miserably but are quiet for
the radio. GE have been good CFL's. No noise and no failures. I prefer
the Feit Electric because I can get the daylight color.
