I just came from that site! Nice picture of "the Core"! Has variometer too. Noticed the unloaded Q was 200.

Verticals...here, noise (sshhh!) isn't a problem. Plus they're omni-directional. Plus the top hats are bird magnets for nature
aficionados. And for those fixated winding coils -- "Abun-danza"! Plus it werks here.

DK5PT used a pot core ferrite loading coil for transmitting and varied
the air gap of the core to fine-tune the inductance:
