[Lowfer] Ferrite Loading Coil ?

Here's a pic of another 'big lump' of ferrite being used to fine tune
the loading for a 400 foot vertical ex AM BCB tower on 182 kHz.

Total L is the tapped litz wound inductor in the background plus the
horizontal one with the 30 inch ferrite 'slug' up its middle. The
'slug' is made up of many discs ex pot cores assys that are stacked
in a slit-lengthwise pvc pipe that slides inside an outer pvc pipe.
I have a video of the mast being 'taken down' some time later - 'lump
in throat' territory for any true lowfer hearing the 'thuuump' as it
hits the ground...... !!

All, Warren,
I just came from that site! Nice picture of "the Core"! Has variometer
too. Noticed the unloaded Q was 200.

Verticals...here, noise (sshhh!) isn't a problem. Plus they're
omni-directional. Plus the top hats are bird magnets for nature
aficionados. And for those fixated winding coils -- "Abun-danza"!
Plus it werks here.
Thanks all, think I've got a grounding on ferrite .

Peter,
DK5PT used a pot core ferrite loading coil for transmitting and
varied
the air gap of the core to fine-tune the inductance:

However, verticals are rarely the best receiving antennas due to
their very susceptibility to noise.
