      Go for it. It costs almost nothing to put a Part 15 transmitter and antenna together and it may whet your appetite for
 bigger things as long as you are very patient and have realistic expectations for a low profile set up. 

     My point was to compare the limited Part 15 experience with the hams in the U.K. and Europe - with fewer limitations 
they have accomplished much more in the few years they've had the band compared to the decades of Part 15 
operation here.
