I copied WEB today from 1230pm cst to 430pm when I shut it off.
After last weeks grabber trial with Dave Bixlers grabber in Seneca
Mo tuned to my WMS beacon, and looking at reports from Peter
Barrack and others, I decided my receiving setup needed some improvement.
I built the high gain preamp/ loop tuner featured in Lyle Kohlers home page.
Wow what an improvement. I never had daylight copy on any part15 beacons.
I am also running a 300 khz low pass filter in front of the preamp. A longwire
overloads the system so I switched to my tribander beam. The preamp is built
on a copper pc board ground plane 2in by 5 in with pads cut by a dremmel tool.
Seems to work well on 137 khz, but I could copy those guys any time they were
on.Preamp is a mpf102 followed by a 2n2907.
First time I have been able to copy parat 15 beacons in the daytime. Maybe now
I can hear some of the guys up north.
