Three things I can think of off the top of my head. Lack of humidity, it
hovers between 25 - 35%, lots of silica in the earth and winds in excess of
100 MPH at times and regularly between 25 - 50 MPH. Many is the time weekly
I see birds blowing sideways faster than I am driving, usually 45 - 50 on
that seciton of road.
I am looking primarily to bleed off opposing charges rather than provide a
striking point but should a strike occur, the point needs to handle it. I
am grounding and providing protectors on some of my equipment in the
meantime, I may set up one tower with a chimney brush on top and see what
happens, in fact I'll put it on the mast in the photos I posted, that would
be a good test.
I bought some lighting prevention/protection parts this afternoon, I'll
upload a photo when I get those assembled.
