I agree totally John! All my programs that download files get defaulted to 
download to the desktop, no exceptions. That way, a file doesn't sit 
unnoticed  in a folder somewhere waiting to bite back months later:>: If a 
new file shows up on the desktop, it goes in the trash instantly-no exceptions.

If it's something I need and I know it's safe, it's easy to retrieve it.

Of course, running NON-MICROSOFT email programs helps alot too.

The only virus that ever got me was one that came in by email and I 
accidently double clicked on it as I was attempting to drag and drop it to 
the trash can.

Live and paranoid sure beats dead and/or clueless.
