I was surprised at how little variation there was.  But I'm keeping the 
wire centered as well as possible.

I'm making the pickup on the transmitter side of the loading coil.

I'll have to get back with you on this one.  I played with it last night 
before going to sleep, and have been at work all day today.  But I did get 
much more consistent readings with it than I did with the rf probe I made 
by measuring the voltage rectified in a 1N34A.  No comparison at all.

I'll do much more tonight and report what I learn.  I know most of you 
have been all through this already, and know what changes will provide a 
given return, etc.  A very educational exercise.
