Thanks, guys, for all the thoughts.  I've been reading everything you've 
been posting on this subject.  Keep 'em coming :)

Looks like I have a day or two to figure this out due to wx.

One smart thing (I think) I've done is to buy the wire for the loading 
coil, but not build it yet.  Rather than build a coil for the antenna I 
PLAN to get in the air, I'll build one for the one that I actually DO get 
in the air ... which remains to be seen.
