[Lowfer] Laptop problem with ARGO

Bill,

Just thinking a little more about your laptop problem....

Since grounds are more controlled in your car application, you probably
don't need an audio transformer. If you do decide to play with one, put it
on the receiver side of the pad. If you put it on the computer side, it will
be handling a lower level signal and will be more susceptible to hum pickup.

They do make some excellent external USB sound "cards" for laptops, and they
have excellent specs for pro audio use. BUT, many do not support the lower
sampling rates that are used in our application. Alberto will correct me,
but I think that the 5512.5 Hz rate is needed for Argo. Some of these USB
adaptors won't go below 8000 Hz.

I retract my earlier suggestion about your wife. Who else would put up with
a husband who wants to drive around with her laptop trying to hear things
that can't be heard?
