[Lowfer] 8 ft Square Loop

Hi Lowfers,
   I have been working on my 8 ft RG 8 U mini coax Loop.
I was going to series tune it, but couldn't get satisfactory results out of
it. I wound up winding a balance xmer for it on a
unknown toroid like Mitch uses. I moved it out side and hung it in a tree
temporarily, but I am still not satisfied. I use XSR to check it out, and
compared to my inverted L he is down some what.
I used 40 turns center taped to ground on the loop side, and 20 turns to
coax back to the shack. I earth grounded the shield.
The toroid came out of computer Power supply. yellow in color.
it is about 2' out side and 1' inside from memory, i didn't measure it.
The preamp is in the shack.
Does this sound reasonable ?
