VG on that ARRL news post. I went to the site and found this pertaining
to LF:
"136 kHz Band Would Mark First LF Allocation for Hams
" "
The ARRL asked the FCC for two LF allocations in October 1998--
135.7 to 137.8 kHz and 160 to 190 kHz.
The petition had languished at the FCC until this month, apparently
in part because of concerns expressed over the 160 to 190 kHz request.
Unlicenced experimenters--some of them hams--currently operate on
LF in the US under the FCC's Part 15 rules.
"
Yes, I'm glad for the 136 U.S. allocation--and also relieved that our
chunk is unspoiled with more RF. But, who knows, this likely will have
some backwash for all of us--some good, some not so. One thought
remains, will 160-190 remain an interest of present LowFERs? or those
wanting a future LF experience?
