OK - consider that the coax represents a fairly large capacitance at LF.
Hanging that across a high impedance source, such as a "large" wire or whip
antenna will severely attenuate the signal. Your best approach in that case
is to use a preamp or matching network out at the antenna to provide a low
impedance output to the coax. Pick an antenna, and I'll give some pointers.
