[LOGic] a few more logic questions..

Ken,

I made a QSL card report that may do what you want ... or be used to borrow
from, or learn from.

Here are basics of what my QSL card is and does:

Back of Card - first report
Prints a table w/ QSO info for 8 contacts and automatically enters
information under the following columns: Your Call (DX call sign), D-M-Y,
UTC, Band, MHz, Mode, RST, QSL (PSE or TNX; automatic), and My Call (which
is whatever call sign I was using at time I made contact; report allows for
any call sign I have used)

It automatically enters other info on card from user fields including:
Rig, Antenna, Amp, Other (equipment such as a tuner, etc)
How the QSL is to be sent (bureau, direct, with green stamps, etc.)
Who to send the QSL to - both the DX call and manager's call signs,
prominently displayed (large text inside shaded box).
My call sign (large, unique font), followed by address lines
A text line (comments)
A "tag line" that is determined (I type what I want or I can bypass) with
each print batch.

Front of Card - second report
Prints automatically:
Top of card - My call sign in Large unique font. (Again, whatever call I had
at time of QSO)
Bottom of card - "<My Call Sign> Confirms QSO with <DX Call Sign>"
My own graphic design (map of USA)

If I was mobile or portable, both front and back will automatically utilize
K1UQ/M (or P) for example. And if mobile, the county I was in along with
town/state where I was operating is printed.

To do all of this requires added user form fields.

My card is setup to print on pre-perforated 8.5 x 11 inch stock and bursts
into four equal sized cards - no scrap strips to tear off.

I also have another similar report which I did some years ago. It is a
longer card and utilizes a double windowed business size envelope. Once
printed, all that need be done with this card is put in envelope, seal, and
stick on a stamp. Outgoing and return addresses show in windows.

If interested, I can email to you.

PDA / Dennis - - - would you like it to put on your web site??

Regards, Bill K1UQ

Subject: [LOGic] a few more logic questions..

i'm trying to modify some of the reports in logic7.. namely i want to be
able to customize a qsl label to print multiple qsos on it along with my own
text and at a different size. i've also worked on modifying a qsl card
report to print multiple qsos there too. i know that some of the reports
already do this--at least i know that some qsl label reports do so i'm not
just trying to reinvent the wheel.

so far, i've read the help pages and tried to take a good look at how the
various reports are put together with the report editor tool, but i still
have some questions. one is exactly how multiple qsos from the same call
are handled. i've found a variable that's initialized for this purpose, but
i can't see how it's actually used. any quick hints on that? :) that's
really the one item that has me stuck this evening.

is there a tutorial that addresses this in some more depth with some basic
examples? i think the help pages are fine as far as they go, but i'm
looking for a little more info.

i'm also wondering if there's a "zoom" tool that i'm not seeing. working on
some of the reports at the "label size" gets a bit tedious. the bring to
front/send to back tools help a lot, but seeing the whole layout larger
would help too. i do graphic arts and photoshop work for a living, so i'm
used to that kind of interface. not a big deal, just a question.

thanks & 73
