Thanks Lloyd...At this point I have about 5-6 new variables I need to explore. Someone came up with the idea of using a non-LOGIC program to talk to the rig...this is a good idea and I believe I have TRXMGR floating around somewhere and need to try that. If the FT1000MP serial port is fried I will be ticked, but that will eliminate all the other grasping at straws.

Will be kind of tied up the next few days but will post my findings as I have time to address them.

  Whenever I have a problem with any program the first place I look is the
  registry.  Enter a search command for the word "logic" and delete every
  entry that looks like it might have something to do with your problem. I fix
  9 out of 10 problems this way.  I upgraded from 6 to 7 and have no problem
  interfacing my FT1000MP.  You might also try searching for "com1"
