Subject: ARRL Honorary VP Edmund Metzger, W9PRN - SK

About six days ago, former ARRL Central Division Director Edmund

Metzger, W9PRN, was hospitalized at the Memorial Medical Center in

Springfield, IL after falling and suffering a head injury.  Late on

Monday, February 26th, Ed passed away.  Most of his family and at least

one close friend were there at his passing.



Services for Ed Metzger are tentatively scheduled for this coming

Thursday.  Please monitor the ARRL web site for further information as

it becomes available.  Weather and the ARRL Executive Committee meeting

this coming Saturday permitting, I plan on attending his services in

Springfield.



While I have not known Ed as long as some of you, in the 27 years since

we first met, I have regarded him as good friend and an honest,

forthright man.  I will miss my conversations with Ed and his flashes

of humor in those conversations.
