For Immediate Release.

McDonough
County ESDA (Emergency Services Disaster Agency) and the National Weather
Service from the Quad Cities forecast office, will be joining resources to
present two storm spotter training sessions in the county this spring.

Donna
Dubberke, the NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist, will be conducting
classes that are open free to the public, and will all start at 6:30 PM. The first class will be held on Monday, March
5, at 6:30 PlM at thae Macomb American Legion Hall.

The second class will be sponsored by the
Good Hope/Sciota and Blandinsville Fire Departments also at 6:30 PM, at the
West Prairie High School in Sciota.
These will both be two hour sessions.
As a special treat, KHQA-TV Channel 7 Chief Meteorologist and
weatherman, Landon Mitchell will also appear at the Amercan Legion that evening
and will do his 6 PM weather program.
Possibly, if scheduling permits, Landon will also try to appear and do
the weather show at West Prairie High School.

The
NWS presents a new program every year to maintain trained storm spotters in
widespread areas which would provide every chance of advance warning during
severe weather.

Anyone
interested in learning about severe weather including all emergency personnel,
ham radio operators and the general public is encouraged to attend these
programs. You do not have to be
interested in becoming a storm spotter to attend, and of course, more storm spotting volunteers
are always needed and welcome. By
attending a training class like this, anyone will be better prepared to face
severe weather both at home or on the road.
This type of information can help anyone prepare their family for severe
weather.

If there are any questions pertaining to the
storm spotting classes, feel free to contact Tony Coniglio at 837-4756.
