Just wanted to let you guys know what was going on here....

According to the latest message from the Department of the Army, I am =
set to demobilize on 23 September... which means that is when I will go =
up to Fort McCoy.  It could be the next day when I start transition =
leave, it could be later, if they decide to put me on medical hold for =
my back.  If I am released, I plan on moving back to the Quad Cities.

HOWEVER... the unit here wants me to stay for another year, and I kind =
of want to also.  It is good money, easy job, and I take pride in =
serving my country.  I believe that they would still have me doing =
administration work primarily, and sending me to train people when =
needed.  At this point there, is not much of a chance of me staying =
around, but work changes every day.  Yesterday, there was almost no =
chance, but new word furnished today makes it more of a possibility (I =
would guess around a 20 % chance).  I will know more in a couple of =
weeks.

The only mixed feelings that I have about it is that I miss being able =
to see a lot of you guys, especially the ones in the Cities...  however, =
I knew what I was getting into when I joined the military, and I go =
where I am told.

I went home last weekend (The Cities) to attend a Reunion for the =
Knights (for those of you that don't know... the drum corps I marched =
with in High School).  I got to see a couple of friends that I haven't =
seen in a few years (Jan... about 5 years, and Chris... more than 10 =
years).  Congratulations to Jan and her husband on the bundle of JOY =
that has recently graced their lives... the cute little bugger :)

For the guys in the club...  I just put in for a vanity call sign =
today... I hope to get either N9OE or N9WP (OE is easy to sign, and WP =
is in honor of my parents, Walter and Palla).  I also bought a bunch of =
MFJ (Mighty Fine Junk, I know :) )... a power supply, a bugcatcher, and =
a swr/power meter... in the hopes of being able to operate from the =
apartment... darn... I forgot a ground...  oh well... I'll figure =
something out...

Also guys... we will be running a special event station up here on =
September 2nd, using the call sign W9A.  I'll let you know as we figure =
more out as to exactly what we will be running..  Here is the listing =
from QST... it says N9RJV (club call), however, we got the special event =
call after it was to late to change the publication info... remember we =
will be operating as W9A.
