ARRL has set the official NATIONAL SET dates for October 1 and 2, 2005.


That being said, I know that there are many local and area emergency
management agencies, CERT Teams, MMRS and other groups are having
exercises between now and December 31.  I suggest for this year that
each local group or area work out their own SET schedule based upon EMA
guidance or one of the other public service groups or barring any of
these in your community have a SET based on your own needs assessment.

KyEM has a brand new mobile command post that they would like to see
tested in community-wide response exercises and I can think of no better
way to use this resource or even to use hospital and EOC amateur radio
stations than in a good exercise that meets what has been determined to
meet local and area needs.  If KEN would need to be activated as a part
of your particular exercise, just let me know.  I have no problem
helping out if I am available or someone else can pick it up and
activate the net for the duration of the exercise.

Several served agencies know what amateur radio can do for them.  Many
more do not.  What a better way to showcase amateur radio and its public
service capabilities than in a good exercise!
