[KYHAM] Mobile install in Ranger

I can't address the FT-90 specifically, but have done
many "2 piece" installs of commercial radios (GE,
Motorola and the like) in pickup trucks. Behind the
seat is usually a good area for the radio drawer. If
it is mounted up a little way on the rear bulkhead,
more cooling air will be available and objects that
make their way behind the seat won't be wedged into
it.
The sheet metal screw supplied with most "mounting
brackets" are useless for any install that is intended
to last. I use threaded inserts into the sheet metal
with bolts and lock washers, inexpensive "pop" rivets
will do as well, but it is more trouble to remove the
bracket when the time comes. A little silicone to seal
out water is a good idea on either.
Right above the dome light is generally fine for an
antenna location if you are going to do a proper
install with a permanent mount antenna. The cable will
usually "fish" from the dome light location down to
either side of the rear cab area.
