We started the first ham radio club in Somerset High School in 1962 WA4FVC
under his guidance. he will be greatly missed by all of us that are left..
Art was one of only 2 of the OTer's left that were our Elmers in the late
50's and early 60's Denver W4VWU is now the last of the old bunch here in
Somerset.. I guess now those of us who are left and were taught what ham
radio was really about and the proper way to operate will be the old
timers. At 57 I can still recall the thrill of meeting the hams in Somerset
when i was a kid.. these men and one woman were like Giants to us kids just
awed by the sound of far away voices and cw notes coming thru the air into
these hams shack. just a few a few i recall MILES , K4AVN JACK K4AVL, BOB
W4KCF, BOB W4YSG , RALPH W4SXP J.O. K4REU , FRITZ W4JBE AND HOBE W4KRY.
I know their propagation in the big ham shack up there is always great
