well put.. and i plan on reading J.R.'s  RM that the FCC has.. What i think 
all these problems comes down to is that
Some who worked very hard and long for what they have  resent that the ARRL 
NEVEC, and FCC have reduced the test levels to a point that they no longer 
feel that all that hard work and sweat means anything.. i really feel this 
is the bottom line.
It can be fixed. but NOT with the ARRL's new ideal.

p.s. I have been a VE for years and I will be glad to give you a code test 
anytime you want. I live near Somerset and there are a number of other VE's 
who will help. and they will all be  20 wpm extra's if you wish.
