AARC Election Update

Just to make certain that AARC members are hip to some changes in the
routine...

Elections
Ballots for the 2005 AARC Board of Directors will be in the mail by
October 1. Under the new Bylaws, Club elections will by mail. Ballots
will be posted by October 1, and they must be returned in time to get to
me (as Club Secretary) no later than October 31... a postage paid return
envelope will be provided), so I recommend that you get them in the post
no later than October 22. Ballots posted later may reach me in time (the
cutoff is October 31, 2400 local) but why push the limit?

Members should vote for one (1) candidate for the Club Officer positions
(President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Activities
Manager). One (1) candidate for Three Year Term Director, and six (6)
candidates for One Year Term Director. Under the new Bylaws, candidates
must be nominated and agree to serve, if elected, so write-in candidates
will be considered invalid votes for that election (i.e. a write-in vote
for President will invalidate that member's vote in the presidential
election; that member's vote for other offices will be counted unless
other invalid votes are made)... clear? If not, please reply to me
(mailto:kl0qw at alaska.net) and I'll try to explain it more clearly.

I'm gratified that we have some new blood running for office in this
election. Candidates who have not returned a short (250-300 word) blurb
for publication in the October Newsletter are reminded that I need to
get that data by Friday, at the latest, to get it to the Newsletter
editor (Jim Larsen) in time for publication.
