Evening all.
I have an old TS-430S The rig works pretty good. But It has developed a
keying problem.
The VOX break in always did work and work OK during contests, but for
regular rag chewing the delay was never long enough so I would use the
manual send switch on the front panel to lock it into transmit mode so
the T-R relay isn't constantly clunking in and out. Works OK, But the
rig has developed a strange problem.
I would use the send switch to lock it into transmit mode, because at
first I thought it might be the T-R relay clunking funny. But it isn't.
When transmitting if i have a semi longer pause say a second or so,
where if it was in VOX mode, it would have dropped back to receive. but
it can not since I have the send switch activated.
but when i do this long pause the very next charater, many times all
the mode lights on the front panel flash, and thn sometimes an extra
clunk is heard like a relay is closing even tho it is locked in transmit
mode with the send switch.
I made a you tube video showing this all happening.
ignore the sound of the bencher paddles, but watch for the lights to
flash and the every now and then clunk of like a relay from the rig,
you will see me flip the send switch keeping it in transmit mode.
anyone ahve any idea as to what the problem might be with this rig?
here is the video addrsss
