[Kenwood] TS820 Frequency Display Problem

A ham I am trying to help has an 820 that has been sitting
for a number of years after coming back from Kenwood repair.

Frequencies listed may not correspond to bands selected!
Sometimes they do, other times they do not.
Looks like the number 8 does not display.
One can hear hams on the set.  I have not tried to transmit.

Anyone remember a simple cause for this kind of behavior?
