[Kenwood] Packet with HRD

I have my TS200 successfully connected to my TS2000. It's working fine. I am
trying to use the HRD built in packet software (DM780) and can't seem to get
it to work. It does connect to HRD and the radio fine because it shows as
connected and shows frequency and mode changes. I'm having a problem getting
it to transmit. I type in text, hit the send button and it shows the letters
moved to the reading pane but my right never goes to transmit. I try to set
up the PTT function and can't seem to do it. In looking at the help screen
for PTT I see this: "Normally you use Ham Radio Deluxe for PTT control, some
radios such as the TS-2000 cannot use software for PTT when audio is
interfaced via a rear connector.". Do I need to use another packet program?
(any suggestions as I'm a newbie to packet) or is there a way to use DM780
thru HRD?
