[Kenwood] Question about TNC in the TS-2000

Hello Everyone,
 
    Just got on this Kenwood mail list  recently.  About to purchase the TS-2000 , but have 
a slight question.
 
    Has anyone ever used the built in TNC for classic packet and airmail operation ?
If so,  what have been your experiences.  Presently using the Windows VISTA OS.
Is the serial port on the T2-2000 used for the connection to the PC for this type of
operation?
