I would appreciate any help on repairing my T599. I have replaced the
FET driver to the 12BY7. I put it back like the one that was in it .
Does anyone have a picture of the orientation of the tab on the
transistor ?
Hi Mike,
I have a T-599. I also replaced the transistor. I could not find an
exact replacement and I substituted a different part number with a
different pinout. It only required putting the leads through some
'contortions'. It's been working fine since I got it in the middle 80s.
If yours is an exact replacement it goes in the same way the old one
came out. I had to look up the pinouts for my transistor and trace the
circuit on the board so I could install mine properly. I have the manual
and the schematic but they do NOT show how that transistor goes in. Do
you have the schematic?
By the way...that transistor is a mixer and it's output goes to the
12BY7 driver tube. If you have the exact replacement (that you installed
the same way as the old one) and the circuit is still inop you should
check for the presence of both signals into the mixer and go from there.
I hope this info helps.
