[Kenwood] Troubles "Mating" PC with Kenwood TS-2000

Hi,

My first time to request help.

I'm trying to set up my Kenwood TS-2000 so my Windows XP laptop can enter memory data.  Have mated the USB cable so it is recognized by the computer and is in Com Port 1 or 2.  But when I ask the TS 2K memory program to "READ" the radio, I get "MCP-2000  Communication Time Out Error."  Any suggestions on where to go from here?
