[Kenwood] Troubles "Mating" PC with Kenwood TS-2000

Hello Bob,

The first thing is to ensure that both the radio serial port and the computer serial port are using the same speed. If, for example, the radio is set to 9600 and the computer's at 14,400, there will be a communications failure and you will get that communication failure message. Check the radio and the computer to be sure both are using the same serial speed.

The other thing is if your computer serial interface is set for Com1 but the software is set for Com2, again, there will be a communications failure and you'll get that communication failure message. Make sure the Com ports are correct in the physical connection as well as the software configuration.

Lastly, make sure the flow control is set correctly. Check the radio's manual to determine whether hardware or software flow control is required OR no flow control is required. Follow the radio's manual and set the computer software to conform to the radio's flow control requirements. Many radios simply do not use any type of flow control. Whether your radio does or not will be discussed in the radio's manual.

Hi,

My first time to request help.

I'm trying to set up my Kenwood TS-2000 so my Windows XP laptop can enter
memory data. Have mated the USB cable so it is recognized by the computer and
is in Com Port 1 or 2. But when I ask the TS 2K memory program to
"READ" the radio, I get "MCP-2000 Communication Time Out
Error." Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Thanks,

Bob
