[Kenwood] TS830 and aging question

Hi John,

Beautiful radio! had one for years before I traded up to a TS-850 :)

Now.... there is a few age related things to be aware off.

1.. Open the bottom of the rig and resold all the pins on the 3 tube 
sockets. These fracture over time from the heat of the bottles 
conducting down through the pins.

2. The band switch has plastic cogs with chains to drive the tuning cap. 
Check them, they can become brittle and loose.

3. The band switch wafers gather dirt and grease so give them a clean too.

4. Check the plate clamps on both output tubes to ensure that they are 
still tight.

5. If the power output is low you might need new tubes, don't forget to 
get a matched pair and do the neutralizing procedures.

6. It will probably need a realignment after all this time, let it warm 
up for 30mins before doing any alignment.

7. Give it a vacuum its probably full of dust !

8. Enjoy your "new" radio :)
