[Kenwood] TS-940 Display/PLL(?) Issue

Ed -
I thought the same thing, but according to a real Kenwood "expert"
(John, KI4NR at LPC Wireless) the goop in the 940 is different than that
in the 440, and is not a problem. The 940 is more of a wax that melts
while the 440 type has to be picked out with a tool! John has done
enough 940s that I figure if anyone knows, he does. I think there is
more information on John King's website, but I haven't been back there
for a while.
He did a beautiful "restoration" of my 940 a few years ago and it came
back working and looking like new. Still running too!! :-)
