[Kenwood] Main Tuning Knob Adjustment for rotation 'snag / drag' for TS-480

Some time back someone asked about how to fix / adjust the main tuning knob 
'snag or drag' that is felt while rotating the knob many turns.

What I have noticed on mine was a small section of the rotation path that 
would feel like it was binding on something during a small part of the 
rotation, especially if I was turning fast. This is not the tension 
adjustment setting, nor is it the normal steady tension felt while tuning.

Problem for me turned out to be that the main tuning knob was full flush set 
on the shaft when it was mounted and tightened down. The fix was to loosen 
the knob set screw, hold the knob up just a small amount from being flush, 
and tightened the set screw back up.

Have the tension adjust arm in the full left position per the service manual 
before removing the knob or putting it back on .....

To get to the set screw that holds the knob in place, first remove the 
rubber sleeve that covers the side of the tuning know. Pull up one section, 
then a different section, and keep pulling up different sections until you 
can slide off the rubber sleeve.

Now you can see the set screw. Loosen the set screw using a 1.5 mm hex key 
(dont use the english 1/16th or you may strip the set screw).

When the knob is loose, pull up slightly and tighten the set screw up, and 
put the rubber sleeve back on.

For me, no more interment binding while doing extensive tuning, such as in 
AM mode and looking around for shortwave stations. Tuning is now smooth and 
much more enjoyable!
