[Kenwood] TS480 scanning freq range question

Hello to all.  I have been trying to figure out how to scan a frequency
range from 50.1 MHz USB to 50.3 MHz USB.  I have got 50.1 in memory channel
90 and 50.3 in memory channel 99.  Been reading the instructions and
confirmed that.  The scan does not seem to work, just sits there.  The
squelch is adjusted where it just cuts out the noise. The best I get to
scanning is the display "m ch 99, the frequency in ch 99 (50.3) and scan p1
below that".  Anyone ever get this to work?  Any pointers would be great.
