Joe....
Sounds like RF is getting back into the radio on 20 metres. Take the ATU
out of the circuit and transmit into a dummy load to see if that eliminates
the problem. If the problem persists, there could be a problem with the
radio. But I'm willing to bet that the problem will disappear, which brings
us back to the antenna and/or feedline causing excessive RF feedback to the
radio. Process of elimination, ol' boy!
BTW....I don't have a 570D radio, but I'm guessing that it's new enough to
be a solid state radio. So what's to tune up? There are no tubes to tune to
resonance.
