When my display first failed it was out of warranty and I simply ordered a new part from the distributor for about $140 which I viewed as excessive but necessary. The new part was a later revision number. About a year and a half later the new display began to fail. I ran into the Kenwood rep at a show and told him about it. He gave me contact info and arranged to replace the display a second time at Kenwood's expense. This replacement was yet another newer revision and this final head has now gone a couple years without a problem, But it still doesn't show up well in the daylight. I imagine that is one of the reasons for Kenwood replacing the model with one using the amber screen that always seems to work.
