I emailed an ex member who really knew the Ts-850. 950 radio.
   He told me the frivolous stuff is partially why we all lost a very 
valuable
source. 

   Let him enjoy his retirement,
So with that we no longer have an absolute expert on the 850,950 ect.


OK does anybody know where I can purchase the 8 volt regulator board?
I broke one Ts-850 into parts. I still have some of it left. can we swap?
I might break the other one down to parts. To keep it fair, I will post here 
when it hits EBAY.

What breaks most in the 850, the 8 volt card next to the final blows out.
many also agree with the old proms. The final is very rugged.
The 850 has a very poor lightening protection. 

  It is prudent to have the in line coax type. IF you can live without 160 
and 80 m
Any in line protector is fine. Remember you do not need a direct strike to 
fry the front end.

  Also the board that has the TX/RX switch/ref pwr smp/lightening protector 
boards is NO LONGER MADE. I never determined exactly what that little 
fuse/diode lightening
protectors parameters. Take extreme care working on that tiny board.
It has a PC board like the old Motorola MX Radio's. I counted 3 layers. 
Replace a simple part and the middle layer goes!
