Correcto Roger it is typical symptom of DDS failure! You might also notice
the monitor dead or intermittence there. Is the receiver alive? Sooner or
later the rest of them will go and the rig will de bead on TX/RX both.
You can buy the 66312s from Pacparts @ 28 USD each. Once you replace all 4,
it should be a fine radio. However, it is an expensive fix isn't it?
Precisely why no one should buy a used 2xxxxx 850s. Your owner, like the K9
in Greenbay, WI, who sold me his which quit a few weeks later, obviously saw
the warning bells!
Go to N6TR's webpage and read all about the 850. You might also want to do
the diode change and the rx protection mod. I am sure pacparts will have
that part as well.
