Hi,
I bought a used early TS850S (ser.n.r2xxxxx) a couple off weeks ago. On
startup the modulation on SSB sounded a bit
like listening on the wrong side band but was ok after a couple off seconds.
It some times came after a couple of hours of
activity but was ok after turning the power off and on again. The problem
has escalated to the point where I now have no
audio on SSB/CW, but it seems to be ok on FM and AM. Also the output power
is gone! Have seen on the net, that this is
mostly due to failure off the DDS chips (YM6631) on these early models. In
my radio one off the four chips have been
changed to the newer version YM66312. As these chips are quite expensive
(abt $45 here in sweden) I'd like to here if
some one has had this problem with their TS850 and if it behaved like mine
does? Was the cure changing the YM6631's ?
Help would be much appreciated as I would like to get this, otherwise
fabulous, rig in the air!

Regards

SM7UYJ/Roger
