The power company won't help you unless the am broadcast stations are unusable take a portable am radio and check the lines as the noise gets stronger go to a more local station .then tell the power co they need to fix it .thats the fastest way Tim --- On Mon 03/24, < [email protected] > wrote:From: [mailto: [email protected]]To: [email protected]: Mon, 24 Mar 2003 04:01:39 -0500 (EST)Subject: Kenwood digest, Vol 4 #85 - 4 msgsSend Kenwood mailing list submissions [email protected] subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visithttp://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/kenwoodor, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' [email protected] can reach the person managing the list [email protected] replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specificthan "Re: Contents of Kenwood digest..."Today's Topics:1. It was with the rig whenit was removed from the previous vehicle. All cables are present and accounted for, but the bracket vanished.-************************************************************************Mark-N8UVQ- e-mail [email protected]************************************************************************________________________________________________________________Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access TodayOnly $9.95 per month!Visit www.juno.com--__--__--Message: 2From: "Jerry" To: Date: Sun, 23 Mar 2003 15:41:58 -0800Subject: [Kenwood] FS swr/watt meter, clock, phone patchPlease reply off list to [email protected] have a Hea
th SB-634 Station Concole for sale for $125 shipped.Condition good. The digital clock, self resetting ten minute timerand swr/watt meter work great. I have not used the phone patch. Some of the white paint has worn off the swr/watt meter swtichesand a switch has been added to the front panel to control meterlights but the bulbs have long ago burned out.Would consider straight trade for an ICOM IC-2100H.Jerry in Sacramento, CA--__--__--Message: 3Date: Sun, 23 Mar 2003 21:01:37 -0800 (PST)From: John Geiger To: [email protected], [email protected]: [Kenwood] Good rigs for power line noiseI have been chasing the ST0RY dxpedition for the lastcouple of days, with frustration. The best band forpropagation to ST seems to be 30 meters, but I have ahigh noise level on that band, so they are very roughcopy. I think it is power line noise, and have beencontacting the power company, but they have been nohelp so far. I am also in touch with the ARRL to tryand get their help
. Of course there is always thepossibility that the noise is coming from elsewhere. It seems to be a constant S6 on 30, and about the sameon 40. 80 is usually a little quieter.I also have this noise on the higher bands, but boughta Yaesu FT100D based on the reputation of its NB. Itdoes take out the noise on 20-6 meters, lowering itfrom S5 to nothing most of the time. However, itdoesn't seem to touch the noise much on the lowerbands. I used to have an Icom 746 (original model)and it didn't do anything against the noise. I alsoused to have a Kenwood TS2000, and I seem to rememberthat it handled it pretty well on all bands. Guessthe IF DSP or Kenwood NB was worth it.Does anyone have a suggestion as to what rigs reallyhandle this type of noise well, other than the TS2000.My budget is a little tight right now, so cannotafford an Icom 756PRO or 775, although someday hope tohave one of those. Looking for any rigs that are alittle less expensive that knock out power line orother noi
se really well. Any suggestions? This ST0 deal so far has me considering giving upDXing and sticking with satellites or 2 meter FM (notreally but it feels like that at times).73s John NE0P__________________________________________________Do you Yahoo!?Yahoo!
