[Kenwood] Compact "Kitchen Sink" Mobile Rig?

I spoke with the Kenwood guys at Timonium last year, and they told me that the
next radio they introduce will be a replacement for the TS-50S.  They said that
it will NOT be a competitor to the 706 or 100D - which I read as marketing
speak for the fact that this new rig will have features/bands that the
competition doesn't have.  They were not refering to the mobile version of the
TS-2000.

Also interesting, I see that Yaesu has just introduced a new HF/6/2/440 100W
mobile rig - the FT-857.  See the inside back cover of Feb QST.  Looks like the
100D or 817.  With the similarity to the 100D, I wonder if the 100D is going to
be discontinued.
