[Kenwood] Kenwood copyright Irrelevant

FYI

The  free download manuals on the Kenwood  site only covers units currently 
(or recently in production) . .If you want a manual for say a TS-690 you 
would have to "purchase" it from  one of Kenwood's parts dealers.   Also 
these manuals are scanned copies in PDF format, there is some noticeable 
loss of "gray scale" rendering and quality of readability compared to a 
"original printing" Another aside the manuals for the older Kenwood radios 
will likely be "very good" copies and not original printing as well if 
ordered from East Coast Parts.

  Additionally these free manuals are the operators INSTRUCTION manuals 
only.  If you want a SERVICE manual you have buy that there are no free 
downloads of those. Even some of the service manuals sold by East Coast 
Parts are copies. I recently bought a service manual for a TS-790. It was a 
copy, which kind of irked me because they didn't represent it as such when 
I ordered it, While it was usable there was definite loss of quality and 
readability of some of the PC-board overlays caveat emptor.

As far as what the copyright statues are for tech manuals you guys might 
want to have an "expert" weigh in .......... http://www.w7fg.com/  has a 
thriving commercial business based on making copies of these manuals. For 
example he also sells a service manual (copy) for the TS-790 so you might 
say he is in competition with East Cost Parts Kenwood's parts dealer...... 
I have no idea what W7FG's deal is (if at all ) with Kenwood.
