[Kenwood] TS-570G(D) vs FT-920

I take issue with the comment the 570 is not as sensitive as the 430. It is
more sensitive.

Kenwood took a page from the Icom book on the 570 and added a Preamp switch.
Find the preamp switch on the 430. If the preamp is on it is more sensitive.

It's kinda like the 430 starts with a full glass and cuts it down to half
with the ATT button. The 570 starts with a half glass and the ATT takes it
to 1/4 glass and the preamp fills it. Except in this case with a lower noise
floor (before DSP) the glass is overfilled...

Confused yet????

> Yes, you can do that. But if you are a cw operator, go ahead and put the
narrow filter in for cw. Bye the way, you can go into the menu and set it
up so that you can use that narrow cw filter, in the USB/LSB modes for your
digital operations such as PSK or even RTTY. It works great that way. I
have found also that with the narrow cw filter in, and the "NR" button
pushed, cw signals pop right out at you- even those I havent heard on the
freq, before doing that. I have not hooked my old TS430s back up and
checked it against the receiver of the TS570S yet, but I belive the 430 is
more sensitive than the 570, and that also is what the book sez about the
570- not as sensative as other Kenwood receivers according to the figures.
The "NR" seems to help in that case.
