You haven't been keeping up with the ARRL letter, etc. With the
anthrax mail stuff, a bunch of the FCC's mail got sent somewhere for
screening and they haven't found it all and have determined that some
of the vanity paperwork is missing. Since they give equal priority for
electronic and mail requests for vanity calls, they are holding all the
requests until they resolve the missing mail. The FCC is making
progress and as of a week ago only had three missing ones where they
haven't been able to contact the applicants (they know who they are,
since the payments did get processed). Since you renewed as part of
the same transaction, that part probably won't be processed until they
can also handle the vanity call.
